Hi, all,
I'm working on an article for ATA World (formerly The Way of Tae Kwon Do Magazine) about martial arts in the media. Here's a description of the article:
***
FEATURE
"Now Showing: Martial Arts in the Media" This feature takes a
look at how martial arts are presented in films - how they're
realistic, how they're not - with an eye towards dispelling
misconceptions. The focus of the piece is on what the ATA [American
Taekwondo Association] wants a martial artist to look like, and how that
compares with Halle Berry as Catwoman, etc. [ie, martial arts are
not about violence, but about personal growth, etc.]
With pull out quotes from students who have been inspired by these films
***
I need to interview (by phone) ATA instructors and a few students of ATA schools. Anyone interested? Please e-mail me at lindaformichelli@hotmail.com.
Thanks!
