After a few false dawns on this line of research, the odds are not in favour of this being 'real' :

There is usually a 'hidden' energy cost somewhere along the line that has either been deliberately or accidentally not included in the 'budget'.

I am looking forward to the peer reviewed paper, given that this invention would change major geopolitical structures and the bottom lines of several megacorps, I am hopeful that the invention both works as advertised and sees the light of day.

Electron capture by a free proton is seriously endothermic. So is the fusion of nickel into copper. So, their fundamental theory of cold fusion mechanisms appear to be the equivalent of expecting your ice cube to cause your drink to boil. Maybe I misunderstand. But... well.. the track record ain't good.

It would be nice if this worked...we could then say to the middle east...so long, thanks for the oil...and they could go back to being medieval...
