As part of my recovery from a back injury I've been doing some Taijiquan qigong exercises. I'm approaching being fit again and hopefully will soon be able to return to some weight training and general body punishment.
According to my limited understanding of qigong, two of the many aims are to strengthen and relax parts of the body. Yet more conventional exercises, in particular those concentrating on the abdominal region increase strength and can promote residual tension. This has an effect on your posture amongst other things.
The question I have is: to what extent is it wise to mix these two approaches? Is there a happy medium or am I worrying about nothing?
