It's disappointing to hear how the Peace Coprs does not take a more active approach when it comes to protecting their own workers:

Gang rapes and death threats to female Peace Corps volunteers have in the past been met with apathy from the Peace Corps, according to the victims interviewed by ABC.

Maybe it's time for them to re-think their policies?

When people are going to use violence against you, you have two, and only two options:
Get beaten/raped/killed
or
Use violence to defend yourself and others, refusal to do so allows you to be beaten/raped/killed so much easier...

Third option: leave. Not always possible, but when possible, worth considering.

EDIT: And by 'leave' I mean end the Peace Corps. We are not wanted, we are wasting time, money, and young American lives trying to earn love and respect amongst people who hate us. Leave, end the Peace Corps. It has no mission.
