What do most MT guys think about partner drills? I.E. opponent throws a jab, I counter in a variety of ways. Speed and timing is varied in between reps.

I just realized that I didnt write in my post that I am aware of the attack that my opponent will throw.

I would call this "Bread & Butter". Definately a necessity.
