On a sunnier note, I had a lot of takeout chicken curry pastries last night for Halloween and today has been rough. Maybe also a little chocolate.

So I decided to learn more about curry. Never realized it's not just a spice, it's also a multi spice powder mix in many places, and also slang for entire dishes. A whole plate of Dhansak is a "curry".

I’ve never heard of a single spice called curry. Was watching a cooking competition show one time and the guy tried to serve a premixed curry to a high level Indian chef and it didn’t go well for him. Lol.

We have some great Indian restaurants around my place. One had the best fish curry around.

My wife and I got a kick out of the food scene in the UK. Seemed like most places, if you asked them for the best local food to eat, they’d send you to a curry house.

I've cooked with curry powders before, but somehow I missed that curry isn't a spice but any one of a number of regional blends, kind of like Chinese 5 spice.

This explains a lot.

our Neighbors are Indian and man, oh man can they cook some delicious food. The mom has a spice box that is, I understand, a family heirloom.

not only that, the Indian cook mixes their own blend (according to an old cook book) so the mix is a personal choice.
I like the traditional wester premade mix.
it's a german thing: Currywurst!

Tonight, Buffalo style crispy shrimp. Actually following a recipe for once.

three (lousy) beers and 2 glasses of wine into jetlag, I think I shall call it a night, even if it is only not quite 7.

Day 2, back in the country.
I did fine on Monday, got home, and hit the ground running, trying to clean up some of the mess my guys created while I was gone

Did well yesterday, Time difference induced early start, I got a lot accomplished.
Felt like I was crashing though in the early afternoon, but lasted til evening. Sadly I neglected to hydrate properly.

Today I am feeling the full force of the jetlag.
And the lack of proper hydration from yesterday.

And there is so much to do.
Time to make a pot of tea I suppose.

made a 'cup' of tea earlier today.
I meant to take it with me when I visited Hubby in the hospital.
I left the bucket (A really big insulated cup) on the table when I left.
When I got home a couple of hours later, I assumed the liquid had cooled off and I burned my mouth carelessly gulping.
Now it is MUCH later, and the tea is still piping hot!
Yeah for the generic yeti cups from Ozark Trail......
I think.

Oh yeah.

Those Yeti thermoses are the best insulated bottles I've ever seen. Days old water, still ice cold. Careful with tea, hot chocolate, and soup :)

aye.....

You have a mild chance if you do not put the lid on it.
It's been......5h....I kid you not.

Discovered how helpful family is. Not only did my parents drive the 10 miles to help me move in, while I was gone (of course during the one week without insurance) my wife, who was home alone back in NY, injures herself and has to go to urgent care. May or may not have to go to the ER depending on how her infection goes. My parents have been looking into ways to help lessen the price since she's uninsured for this week, and I just found out that my brother stopped by her place with pizza, to help with whatever she needs. I've met friend's family that are the exact opposite, and I am so lucky to have the family that I do.

Saw Doctor about the hips.... according to him they are good for years to come, not bone on bone. But the issues I am having ate all arthritis.... but there is no need for replacement at this time. Maybe 2 years, maybe 8 years, maybe longer, but not now. Kind of a relief actually.... although the whole arthritis thing is annoying

So,.... Now to decide when to have him look at the left knee... I'm not in a rush, but I know its coming...
