There was a time when dealing with mainland Chinese for seminars here in the US was fun, expensive, but fun..... now... not so much

Single payer is the same thing as universal healthcare. They are Synonyms. We are on the same page. :). Single payer refers to a healthcare system similar to Canada or the UK, where the government pays for healthcare.
I want people to have options and, more than anything, I want doctors and patients to be the primary decision makers when it comes to people's health. I can't think of anyone I know who, at one point or another, hadn't run into a situation where they had to choose between the care they needed and the care they could afford. Nobody should have to go through that.

In his future universe, Russian sci fi writer Ivan Yefremov proposed a system of government, where each branch is run by the best specialists in that area. So, the Council for Economics is run by economists, manufacturers, and people responsible for the distribution and circulation of good. The Council for Agriculture is run by farmers, botanists, biologists, livestock specialists, weather scientists, and soil experts. There is a Council for Honor and Law, which is pulled in to weigh the ethical implications of every major change in the planet's economy. And, of course, there is a Council of Medicine, which consists of physical and mental health specialists from all the various branches of medicine. I like that concept. And I think healthcare is a good area to implement that - so people making medical decisions are the people who actually practice medicine. Not lawyers. Not bureaucrats. But doctors. Wouldn't that be radical?

Oh, rub it in... Go right ahead!
Well since you insist...

I have a cold and am running a fever, but I was still able to say on a project conference call, "I have a list of practice names, coded for our document system, which can be built directly into the interface architecture to set up information filtering and ensure proper inbound distribution." Feeling pretty smug.

We sacrifice coffee beans. It’s brutal. We grind them up into powder and drink their blood. Delicious.
