I couldn't help notice the similarity in the thoughts between Li and Bruce Lee in the representation of the Chinese people in films. Lee wanted to break the stereotype constant bowing, chop-chop "ah-so!" coolie hat long single braid Chinese so often portrayed in popular cinema of the west, by portraying an assertive/aggressive stand up for themselves type of person.
Now Li seeks to break the "all Chinese can kick/Kung-Fu" stereotype into the people who are a culturally rich and human race.
His work with the Tsunami relief is commendable and a worthy effort for one having to come so close to losing his own life and the lives of his children. I've garnered more respect for the man now having seen him express himself (during this interview) beyond the silver-screen.
