Mind you, the thing with 'active flexibility' like in a high kick is that it isn't actually flexibility, just a specialised kind of strength. Dancers do a lot of barre work to develop it. The attitude that weights harm your flexibility/ stunt your growth and give you hairy palms is dying out fortunately but one still encounters it occasionally. Not here though.

Most weight training exercises have built in stretching..stiff legged deadlifts as an example.
Lunges ...obviously good for deep stances
People just don't understand how to set up a good training programme

Absolutely true. Me, I'm a dumbbell man. I do a lot of turkish getups. But yes- running is very simple, you put effort in and you get results out. Do weight training the wrong way however and it won't work.

Sure the Brussels muscles was(is) a leg flexible guy, but could he use it in fight ?
Apparently he once got manhandled by a biker so that the tough guy Michael Rourke had to step in and stop the one sided fight.
The muscles also had claimed a kickboxing champion record but when challenged by a verified kickboxing champ he declined in silence.
JCVD seemingly did Shotokan karate in his home country but any proof of high level competition record seem not to exist.
Online it says he’s 1.75 m short, Steven Seagal could probably kick higher than that without a single visible muscle on his body

Exactly been a few mass monsters too who previously & still did arts like taekwon do .
Flex wheeler I think
When I was in the WT circuit, my life was very busy, and I was always looking for ways to streamline my weight training (my least favorite part of training). One simple and effective method I used was a weighted vest. It worked great with dynamic movements and did a good job of core/back and leg strengthening.
Add 30-40lbs to a vest, strap it down tight and you will know it is there pretty quick. Then work dynamic drills and sparring combos at speed and I guarantee you will be gassed. My trainer was great at identifying when I would get sloppy and help me fix or adjust my movements. I cannot express how much it helped me with body defense.
Add 10-pounds of ankle weight per leg for 1-2 hours of non-contact drills and technique kicking practice and it is a helluva workout.

Yes ankle weights are great & will make kicks without them feel light
I personally only used them for hanging knee raises for abs but yes good idea.
Weighted vests can be used for a multitude of exercises..Good kit

You have to be VERY careful with ankle weights as they can wreck the knees. Think of the leg as moment arm. The more weight suspended at the end of the arm exponentially increases the forces on any hinge points (hips, knees, ankles). I learned the hard way ankle weights will destroy the soft tissue in the knees first.
NEVER DO POWER OR FULL SPEED KICKS WITH ANKLE WEIGHTS!!!
