Funniest thing I've heard lately was Daniel Schor (a personal hero) saying, when asked on NPR about a permanent moon-base, "Well, I guess they're gonna need the room, once Guantanamo gets filled up...."

Hey, I lived aboard GTMO in '94 when we wound up with thousands of Cuban and Haitian refugees on base at one time. All non-essential personell were evacuated to their home of record and the base was covered in green canvas tents... the moon was lookin' pretty damn good back then.
