Sounds like the admixture of two very different systems of Karate.

It may be an off Shoot, or influenced by Shorinji Kempo. One of the six characteristics of Shorinji Kempo is Goju ittai. This means the unity of goho and juho. They are not sepperate, but designed to work together.

It is very likely gojuryu karate with an emphasis on pressure point striking.
Yes, you're probably right given the spelling of Kempo. This brings me to a question. Why is there so many style of Kempo that call themselves Kempo Karate? Kempo is a generic term as is Karate, it is not a style of Karate. It just sounds strange to me.

Goju ryu Karate was originally known as Goju ryu Kempo back in the 1920's (I believe) - this was the term used by Chojun Miyagi - I believe originally it was known as Hankro-ryu Kempo but in the 1920's they changed it to Karate to be more mainstream.
