I recall seeing someone post that they wanted a pocket in their GI. Some brands have a very small pocket in the front corner of the jacket. He is one with a pocket in the back of the pants.

I once saw an Iaidoka who left the top edge of this breast badge unsewn so he could use it as a pocket! He used it to carry his cigarettes šŸ™„

You can actually use the front of the dōgi as a reasonably good pocket; for a booklet, papers or tenugui, in fact Roman senators used the fold created in the front of their toga as a pocket. It was known as a ā€˜sinusā€™.

#opr1945 have you looked into Japanese tenugui, the handy little towels used by the Japanese people and martial artists? Theyā€™re very collectible; I have a wardrobe shelf-full!

It is slightly larger than just over a foot by just over 2 feet. very handy and also soft. I really like it. Got it from China and very cheap. I was surprised by how nice it is.

I have some real beauties and find then very collectible.

In Japanese public toilets, they do not install hand dryers or paper towels dispensers (šŸ¤·šŸ½), so everyone carries a tenugui around on which to dry their hands and the cooler the design, the better!

You seriously underestimate how cold village halls are in this country. But oh, how I have longed for a gi with pockets
Yes but a true Karateka burns with the heat of a blast furnace! šŸ”„

I havenā€™t even broken out into a slight sweat at the gym because itā€™s so cold. šŸ„¶ In fact I have to wear a long-sleeved thermal vest under my lord-sleeved t-shirt. Roll on the Springā€¦
