Cool, how do you do the lock properly?

By training the lock over and over again.

In my job we use finger control alot. It only takes a small amount of pressure to break a finger, but if someone is jacked up on something they probable wont even feel it.

I guess it depends on what the fight is over. For me personally it might end a squabble im having with say "drunk uncle tony". However if I were to be defending my family from an attack I highly doubt any amount of broken fingers would do the trick. Granted pain is pain, but a fight for ones life does amazing things to a person.

I really can't see a broken finger or thumb ending the fight. But it's still a pretty good place to start.
