I think it depends on the goal of the style/club.
Boxers like their strength/speed/conditioning stuff a lot, cause that is what wins them the fight, as much as clean technique does. Same for any combat sport.
In "Self-prefection" arts it's not that relevant, for what most people want out of Tai Chi being able to Bench Press well over your body weight isn't neccessary.
