Heston was chosen as a narrator for highlyclassified Military and Department of Energy instructional films, particularly relating to nuclear weapons, and "for six years Heston [held] the nation's highest security clearance" or Q clearance

Q clearance is not, and never has been "the nation's highest security clearance," though it is, in matters of nuclear weapons work, about as high as most people can or should need to go......

Yeah, that was from wikipedia on Heston. I knew he served in Alaska so did a quick search in wikipedia.

Clarck Gable recieved an Airmans' Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service as a Captain in the Army Air Corps in WWII. He was trained as a gunner and flew 5 bombing runs over europe, including one in Germany where he had flak pass through his boot w/o wounding him and another piece pass very close to his head. Hitler was a huge Clark Gable fan and issued quite a reward for anyone who could bring him in unharmed. After D-Day, Gable was discharged and spent the rest of the war helping with recruiting films and war bond drives. Coincidently his discharge papers were signed by fellow actor Captain Ronald Reagan, who later went on to become President.
