It would make you better at it.This guy is why I could never be a defence attorney. Before anyone starts, I know the philosophy of our system, I am just saying I would never be comfortable as a defence attorney. The percentage of guilty to innocent clients would drive me nuts. Trying my best to get guilty people set free by attacking the credibility of police officers and witnesses would never work for me. Another thing I don't understand is how Prosecuters can leave that side of the courtroom and go into private practice on the defence side of the aisle. I could see some other type of practice but being a defence attorney after being a prosecutor seems an odd fit.
A good defense, makes for better prosecuters. They need each other for the system to be and stay fair.It may make you better at it but as a moral person, knowing that you are actively trying to get someone you know is guilty off is something I wouldn't want to be a part of. I know that they deserve representation, but I just couldn't work to get someone I thought had done a horrible crime to innocent people off.
If it were my job to poke holes in the prosecution, yes. The televising part is on us as a society.Sure, and there are enough sleazy defence attorney's who will do and say anything, and some corrupt prosecutors as well (who eventually probably become sleazy defence attorney's) that I can stay out of defending guilty people. I hate to bring up Casey Anthony, but I remember seeing part of the case where the defence attorney accused the father and brother of molesting both Casey and her dead daughter, with no evidence to back it up. This trial was televised and these two men are stained with that accusation for the rest of their lives. could you do that?
