12-05-2009 09:35 PM:Justin Wren and Jon Madsen both possess awesome wrestling backgrounds but as is so often the case with grapplers, as they try to add striking to their game, they become a bit one-dimensional. Neither heavywegiht prospect tried for a takedown the entire fight and what unfolded was a sloppy attempt at a slugfest by Wren.
He often looked like a desperate lunatic throughout much of the fight hoping that Madsen would swing and trade with him. Instead, Madsen counterpunched nicely consistently landing his right. The South Dakotan fighting out of Matt Hughes' H.I.T. Squad grabbed a split decision win 30-27, 29-28 and 28-29.
