The brainchild of Ultimate Fighting Championship owners Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta, the show pits top-ranked mixed martial artists against each other vying for two six-figure contracts that are handed out at the end of the season.
"We kept trying to get a fight show on television, and it didn't work," said UFC president White.
"We needed a Trojan Horse to get on television, and that was The Ultimate Fighter."
