Wi-Fi...unalienable right...?

Wi-Fi was just a frequency people started broadcasting bandwith through. It was never ment to be secure. They also used unlicensed spectrum which anyone has access to.

Thats why Wi-Max takes it to the next level.

that's fine..
it's not secure which mans intruders can get a copy of your data going back and forth. but your data is encrypted, and they have to have your key to decrypt it (it's not impossible, but based on current technologies 128-bit, or SHA512 encryption algorithms are pretty secure)
you can also use SSL (secure socket layer) to dedicate a connection that cannot be intruded, or you can use VPN's (virtual private networks) that are secure too.
i dont mind if a hacker gets a copy of my encrypted data as long as they're not able to decrypt.
there are also other hashing algorithms that make data inaccissible or non-understandable by humans

Wi Fi and Wireless internet are not the same thing, but the layman uses the term interchangably. I install, troubleshoot and Setup wireless internet on our towers and our customers homes for a living.

Wireless internet is securable and encryptable... at least on the Equipment I install.

Wi fi is to an extent. What do you think WEP and WPA are are on Wifi Routers?

Anytime you use unlicensed spectrum or run on 2.4 ghz frequency anyone that knows how to hack can enter your network with a wep/wpa or not. Now when you run off 2.5/6 ghz licensed spectrum its virtually hacker proof. So going back to the Wi-Fi those packets can be decrypted if you know what you are doing.

The frequency isn't gonna make a difference. If you are transmitting packets, they can be intercepted.

Security comes from encryption, not from changing the frequency.

If someone wants too they can splice your cable line and get in through a wired connection too.

Any packet you transmit through any means can be intercepted.

Over half the homes in Mississippi lacjk a computer...it ain't a right yet!

Is driving? People used to emphaszie that it's a privilege, but it's almost a de facto right by now!

Wep and WPA are not UNBREAKABLE encryption, but it IS encryption. Also, as Andrew Green pointed out teh frequency doesnt matter, as long as your reciever is capable of picking up the same frequency.
