The exercise at the beginning of this video clip that is noted as "Dao Gwun" is also an exercise with the Wing Chun Pole. It is found in a lot of southern CMA's that use a pole or spear. I added it to my abdominal conditioning routine awhile back and I think it has definitely improved my "short power" and waist control. I recommend you try if you haven't already. Even if you haven't gotten to the pole material in your system yet.
