12-26-2009 04:45 PM:In between celebrating all that was great about MMA in 2009 there were certainly a handful of ridiculous incidents to laugh and shake your head at. Cage Potato listed its Top 10 Most Embarrassing Moments in MMA. It tabbed Jon Koppenhaver making the transition from fighter to porn star as the worst. Not a bad choice but if we're judging from a casual fan standpoint, Kyle Maynard, the young man with no arms and legs getting an MMA, certainly merits a top ranking. So does the nine second knockout of former UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia by 200-year-old boxer Ray Mercer.
Tito Ortiz got himself in the running for the top spot as the worst postfight interviewer during the Affliction 2 show (NSFW).
I completely disagree with the inclusion of season 10 of "The Ultimate Fighter" and Brock Lesnar's UFC 100 postfight performance. I thought TUF 10 was a very solid season only taken down a notch with the knowledge that Quinton Jackson has bailed out of the season-ending fight against Rashad Evans. Lesnar's rant after his win over Frank Mir was one of the greatest moments, not only for 2009, but in MMA history.
How did Dana White's rant against a female blogger not make the list? From a national media standpoint, it may have been the biggest embarrassment of the year.
