Great story. SSgt. Michael Downing lost both of his legs in an IAD attack in Afghanistan. He is still undergoing rehab at Walter Reed, but he has been at home long enough to realize that where he, his wife, and his 3 daughters were living was not a place where he could live independently. He could not go upstairs or bathe himself without help, he found the height of the kitchen counters to be difficult to work with when seated in his wheelchair.

An army (no pun intended) of volunteers banded together to build the Downing family a new home, one where SSgt. Downing can live independently. He hopes to be home permanently from Walter Reed in time for Easter.
