I love this word and it seems to be used a lot at Homestarrunner. Anyone else seen it about, out of context?

Actually, caver, it means Voice Over IP :)

They shoulda been befuddled a coule years ago.

VoIP. Such a beautiful word that is. One of my favorites. :D

There ain't a whole lot of people that VoIP like I do. Why, I'm VoIP'ing the night away right now as I type this.

But the word just sounds....er, well, dirty, somehow. Is this some kinda auditory Rhorshak test?:)

It seems Nextel feels it some sort of VOIP Lord.

Does it have a VOIPal Sword, I wonder?

There's nothing dirty about VoIP. It's just a way for people to hook up with one another. Being a single girl and all, I don't really VoIP anyone personally right now. No one VoIP's me, either. So, until that situation changes, I guess I have to be happy with making sure that everyone else can connect...which is not a bad job to have!

Strongbad VOIPs into a comic panel
(I am not making these up)

Apparently, it comes in liquid form, too

I haven't had any wannabe geeks ask me about "voip" yet. Am I the only one that finds it amusing when someone uses acronyms incorrectly? I was talking with a user once about an "earl." I first I thought he was from Jersey and wanted me to look at his car, then I figured out that he was talking about a u.r.l.

and let's not forget about 'pebkac errors' and 'rtfm protocol'
Yeah... I have a few users with frequent ID-10T errors...

I'm doing some logwork to find some BFD errors.

Those are a really big deal :D It's a real acronym, too :D

Actually "VOIP" to me sounds like a sound made by some non-descript alien muppet with a horn for a nose...or some one legged suction toy in a Pixar short

"Voip voip voip voip"

Although I guess...all thngs considered...it would be pretty stupid to teleport into some place and make a noise like "ADSL"
