U.S. to Require Passport To Re-Enter Country

I have heard the standing joke that Canada is just the USA with better beer as an example of the National confusion.

Its not a funny joke at all. In fact, its offensive. To which "the National confusion" do you refer?

Well, if it wasn't for the requirements of living in an igloo, and having polar bears as neighbors....I'd be a canuck! (Heck, half my models are Canadian Gals.)

Seriously though, I took my daughter over the American border a couple of months ago and they wanted a signed noterized letter from my husband to allow me to take her myself to ensure I wasn't "stealing" her from him. The times they certainly are a changin'.

That rule has existed for at least 20 years. When I travelled to the US without both parents, they had to have that letter with them. But the customs agents used to just ask me directly if this was my dad or my mom and if my other parent knew I was coming. We never had any problem (and my parents were divorced so had more reason to run off with me).
