Sad. And the TSA 'blogger' response? Even sadder. Now I'm apparently going to scratch Amtrak off my list of transportation I'll consider taking. Kind of back to driving in my car when I want to go somewhere. Fine with me - let me see the TSA start showing up at people's houses to search them before they go out the door to work each day. Thugs.

Punch a cop, get hit with 25 different charges.
Punch a TSA agent, get hit with "assault".

Shows where they fit on the 'food chain'.

Me, I'm waiting to hear about a cop or other -real- law enforcement official putting one of these wannabe punks in their place.

The TSA. Destroying your freedoms, lying to you, molesting you and stealing from you, so you can feel "safe".

The Terrorists won Bill.

The TSA is living proof.

If the people are that concerned with safety on trains and planes, the first thing they need to do is get some trained, qualified people working at the TSA, not the 3 stooges. What good is screening someone after they get off the train? The terrorists are probably laughing every time they pull something.

Of course the terrorists are laughing.
It cost them 20 men, and less than $100,000 to turn the US into crazyland, where we piss away billions every year, inconvenience and harass millions, and give mall-cop rejects and sexual deviants authority over us.

Lets look at this intelligently...something the TSA would never, ever do.

The train had arrived.
The passengers had disembarked.
The luggage was unloaded.
Both former passengers and luggage was outside.

What security is there in post-screening?

If the goal had been to hijack the train....it was too late.
If the goal had been to blow up the train....it was too late.
If the goal....well, the smart people get it.

The TSA? Nope.

Let me be perfectly clear here.
In this situation, I'd have grabbed my bag and left, and knocked any TSA idiot on their *** if they tried to kidnap me (That is what the legal term is right, when someone forces you someplace against your will?) and had a friend rapid post the video to Youtube before they steal and mangle his camera.

But, I don't ride trains or buses or planes. I suggest boycotting all 3 until they either go under, or sanity is restored.

Well of COURSE the screen them when they get off...it was the train coming from Palermo... and they were thinking it was a train from Italy...they just did not realize there was a Palermo, California...:D

Go to any truck stop after midnight, there dozens of trucks there, some loaded with gasoline and other potentially nasty stuff. Steal a truck, rig an explosive to it and drive it into a mall or a sporting event.

Are they going to be searching trucks now?

DUDE, Shhhhhhhh!!!! Are you trying to give them ideas?!? ;)

Not to mention the millions of shipping containers that come into this country that don't get searched.....

The bottom line is that the TSA is all about controlling people: you get used to taking off your shoes, getting x-rayed, and possibly fondled to board a plane. You get used to being searched when you get off a train. You get used to possibly being searched at certain off-ramps on highways, or at tolls. You get used to cameras everywhere....

You get the idea. It is, of course, a right-wing, conservative, fascist plot. :lfao:

Well, if we dont' screen them AFTER they get off the train, how are we going to catch people stealing the barf bags?

LOLOLOLOL

What would have happen if people refused to be screened at that point? Would they not be allowed off the train?

I wonder if anyone was getting off the train and just pushed the TSA out of the way and kept going?

I so look forward to my flight on friday now...

LOL.

Sadly people think that terrorists are both stupid and crazy, nope they're bat **** crazy all right, but they most certainly are not stupid. If someone wants to hit a particular country anywhere in the world, they'll figure it out.

Most screening is a joke. Even at the US/Canadian borders. Entering Canada, got 3 questions, flashed the ID and away we went. Entering the US, got 20 weird questions, they did things with the ID, and away we went. Second time, pulled over, checked the vehicle. Not me. I coulda had a small tactical nuke up my backside, nada.

I think everyone entering or leaving the US should be stripped, cavity searched, dna scanned and maybe even have to leave some fingers behind. Do the same for air, train, bus and boat travel. Make all truckers ride nude in glass cabs. Allow anyone at anytime for any reason to demand ID, even guys with criminal convictions for sex crimes. Let them do the cavity checks. It's for security n all that.

And make it madatory for women between the ages of 20 - 35 to be the only ones allowed to drive truck....

And yet freinds still ask me "Hey Dave, when are you coming back for a visit?" I hardly recognize the US anymore.

You forgot to mention the Communists.... and Socialism...it is always those Communists and Socialists. :D

But, to be honest, I am actually beginning to believe that the end result of all this and other things currently going on in the good ole USA is Learned Helplessness.

Here's a worthwhile update! All is not lost:

Amtrak Police Chief John O’Connor said he first thought a blog posting about the incident was a joke. When he discovered that the TSA’s VIPR team did at least some of what the blog said, he was livid. He ordered the VIPR teams off Amtrak property, at least until a firm agreement can be drawn up to prevent the TSA from taking actions that the chief said were illegal and clearly contrary to Amtrak policy.

“When I saw it, I didn’t believe it was real,” O’Connor said. When it developed that the posting on an anti-TSA blog was not a joke, “I hit the ceiling.”

None of which is to say it's over and done with, but it's refreshing to see someone in a position to do something about it pushing back.

Scanning at the destination is one of the methods Secretaries Napolitano and LaHood have come up with to make sure the trains run on time.

And every couple of years, they fan the flames anew by putting a patsy on a plane with the equivalent of a bottle rocket in his pants or a van with fertilizer. Zero investment, Billion dollar payout.

They don't even need to do anything real until it looks like sanity will prevail again. Which doesn't seem to be anywhere in the near future. And if something happens, I don't know what it will be, but it won't be planes.

One would think that if we can crush the TSA style madness in our national airports in socialist Belgium in less than a week, the freedom loving citizens of the US would do better than that, eh? ;) :p

And I say this happens 99% of the time, because we tend to relax. We relax, the terrorists strike, we beef up security, thus costing us lots of $$. Then we relax again. Repeat process over and over and over. Couple all that, with the fact that alot of the security that we have in place sucks, and its a never ending cycle of BS.
