You can often ship things to the hotel you'll be staying at. They'll usually hold them for your arrival. I know several people who do this routinely; shipping is cheaper than some airline baggage fees anymore.

Seriously. If the airline baggage fees get much higher, it'll be cheaper for us to travel without clothing. We'll take our SCUBA gear and buy shorts & t-shirts on the island. And leave them behind when we leave.
