Tony Danza HATES Poor people and Minorities!

The whole "more cops will mean less crime" is a politicians catchphrace...not a cops. When it takes hours for a cop to respond to your report call because all the cops on the shift have priority calls stacked up..you need more cops. When arrests stack up to the point that there is nobody on the road, you need more cops. If its only an issue of increasing crime rate and not an increase in workload its an issue of strategy and tactics..not manpower.

I think to understand the different viewpoints on this. Effective for some means better education, not only for low income students, but the rest of public students as well. Effective for some mean long term positive results from the program, like lower crime and enhanced economy. Others seem to think effective has something to do with which political party supports it. I'm already waiting for the calls that the Headstart program is just indoctrinating our children in socialism.

Apparently, it doesn't work for better education or for lower crime rates or enhancing the economy. Obviously, we just need to spend more money on it.

Sure. Then we could disband the police force?

Because making certain that a child has breakfast in the morning, and an early start on education isn't worth it for it's own sake?

Better off aborting the little bastards, then-right? I mean, we can't let them be aborted, but we certainly shouldn't waste money caring for them, because it does nothing to .....:lfao:......lower crime rates or increase high school graduation...:lfao:

Elder, you are right. The reason to keep these type of programs is because it is the right thing to do. Contrary to a lot of opinion, compassion and the desire to help children is still a very good reason to do something.

No...but you said "head start programs"...which to a education is equivalent to the DARE program at many PD's. While there is some benefit to it and Id recommend keeping it if fiscally possible; if the money is running out I'm cutting DARE to keep cops on the street..vs cutting road officers to fund a special program.

BTW..since HS has been around for 47 years. Do you have any studies declaring that it has met its objectives? That we have gotten our moneys worth?

In the long run..although some people of certain political leanings like to subscribe to the "government as family" meme. The plain fact is that HS, or any gvt program is NOT going to solve the educational problems presented by broken families or lack of parental involvement in a kids life.

I tend to agree that the underlined and especially the bolded part is the basis for the problem.

If your only goal is to reduce the crime rate that would work. If there is no cops to report the crime too then crime numbers go down.
