Spinning Hook Kicks

Zepp, the way you do it was how I learned it. I better go back and ask someone to demonstrateit....

A hook kick, according to every Tae Kwon Doist and most karateka I've ever discussed it with involves hooking your leg before you impact your target.
This is correct for a hook kick in Traditional TKD and is my favorite TKD kick. It works well in sparring even without the spin because it can look like a "sloppy" side kick and can confuse your opponent especially if you do a few side kicks before hand. Spinning works if you are very quick and is accurate. You have to execute it before they have time to react so if you're slow, they'll just move out of your way. If you are fast, it is devastating on impact. Use control.
