Dear Taekwondo Community,

I would like to personally invite you to the Smith Sport Taekwondo Olympic Sparring Championships. This year’s event will be held at the Chick Evans Fieldhouse of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL, on Saturday, December 8th.

Our event will feature sparring only with matted rings and electronic scoring. The
format will be a round robin competition. Divisions of 5 to 6 competitors will be established. Competitors will spar everyone in their division. Black Belt competition begins first at 10 a.m. sharp. Medals will be awarded to all competitors.

Last year, we had 210 competitors from Illinois, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Michigan. This year we expect additional teams from Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri.

Thanks for the invitation, Dave. I wish I could make it. I grew up in So. Elgin, IL & I've spent a lot of time in Dekalb.

Thanks for the info, and was just wondering if there will be an "ultra" division for us more mature folks. Good luck on the tournament.
