Some songs get me pumped, others just make me happy. This makes me happy.

Something Jenna said reminds me of reactions I have had to my music.

I posted some of my acoustic tunes on YouTube. Many moons ago, I was led to believe that being a musician guarantees you can woo just about any female, so I directed a young woman I met there.

Her response?

"Why are all your songs sad?"

Ugh. Sadly, this is the reply I have had from 99.9% of the women who have heard my music. Leave it to me to find ones who pay attention to the content and how the music makes them feel. LOL

And who might fall into the 0.01%, you may ask? My girlfriend. She is a little more understanding and non-judgmental. She understands I write music from how I am thinking and feeling. Therefore, she knows that to criticize my son is basically like criticizing how I feel, which of course isn't cool.

"Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me" seems to be highly appropriate right now.

This is not the song I mentioned in the previous post. I wonder if anyone can guess who wrote these lyrics?

She reaches toward me now
with hands made of glass,
and the sunlight
(fractured by her translucent skin)
is rearranged as a rainbow on the wall.

For fans of alternative music, check out this guy's podcasts. He stopped in early 2015, which sucks, but there is an enormous back log.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Touch and Go

Muse Uprising

[Verse 1]
Paranoia is in bloom The PR,
Transmissions will resume They'll try to
Push drugs to keep us all dumbed down and hope,
That we will never see the truth around
Another promise, another scene, another,
A packaged lie to keep us trapped in greed,
And all the green belts wrapped around our minds and endless
Red tape to keep the truth confined

[Chorus]
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

[Verse 2]
Interchanging mind control Come let the
Revolution take it's toll
If you could flick a switch and open your third eye
You'd see that we should never be afraid to die
Rise up and take the power back It's time the
Fat cats had a heart attack
You know that their time's coming to an end, We have to
Unify and watch our flag ascend

[Chorus]
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

Bruno Mars - Just the way you are:

Her eyes, her eyes
Make the stars look like they're not shining
Her hair, her hair
Falls perfectly without her trying
She's so beautiful
And I tell her everyday (yeah)

I know, I know
When I compliment her she won't believe me
And it's so, it's so
Sad to think that she don't see what I see
But every time she asks me "Do I look okay?"
I say,

When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile
The whole world stops and stares for a while
'Cause girl you're amazing
Just the way you are

Her lips, her lips
I could kiss them all day if she'd let me
Her laugh, her laugh
She hates but I think it's so sexy
She's so beautiful
And I tell her everyday

Oh you know, you know, you know
I'd never ask you to change
If perfect's what you're searching for
Then just stay the same
So don't even bother asking if you look okay
You know I'll say,

When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile
The whole world stops and stares for a while
'Cause girl you're amazing
Just the way you are

The way you are
The way you are
Girl you're amazing
Just the way you are, yeah

When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile
The whole world stops and stares for a while
'Cause girl you're amazing
Just the way you are

My favorite opening lyrics to a song. Crazy Love, vol2, Paul Simon

Fat Charlie the Archangel
Sloped into the room
He said I have no opinion about this
And I have no opinion about that

Many moons ago, before sound in video games became an important part of gameplay, I used to put the TV on mute and listen to albums. (Of course, at that point they were on cassette tape, not actual vinyl.) It was at this point in my life that I listened to the catalog of this band obsessively.

Oh what the hell...I am going to share all of their "phase 1 and 2" discography.

What do I mean by phase 1 and 2? Well, when they first formed, they consisted of Ian McCulloch, Will Sergeant, Les Pattison, and Pete De Fritas. McCulloch left the group in 1988, and I believe De Fritas died in a motorcycle accident in 1989. Will and Les tried reforming the band with a new lead singer and drummer, which is when "phase 2" began. It quickly ended; this lineup was together for only one album. Then in 1997, McCulloch and Pattison came back with Sergeant, which of course began phase 3. Pattison quit again (and for good), but McCulloch and Sergeant have made albums together ever since.

While I liked the phase 2 album, I still haven't really been won over by the phase 3 music. Since I am not all that familiar with it, I will be including only the albums that I used to have in my tape deck while playing countless hours of PHANTASY STAR 2 on my Sega Genesis.

Last post, and the last album I am truly familiar with. McCulloch was replaced with Noel Burke, Pete De Fritas with Damon Reece, and they also added touring keyboardist Jake Brockman as an official band member. Many people hated this album. I wonder what the reception would have been like if they had gone by a different name.
