reanimating gifs

The AVI to GIF thread got me hopeful that maybe I can find a solution here for my particular little glitch.
Off the net I was able to download/copy particular GIFS, but copying them from computer to another folder broke the individual frames up. Now... arghh reanimation needed or compiling them back where they were.

In some browsers when you save a "gif" it may only save it as a .bmp. I know that IE is bad for that. Firefox does a really good job of saving the file as it is.... so when you are saving/downloading a gif file - make sure that it says - .gif - then when you move it from one folder to the next (as I have never heard that it will break frames by moving) - it will be the full animated gif.
