Old Practice Swords

Here are two photos I took at the museum in the San Luis Obispo Mission of what they called "Naval Practice Swords". No other information was given.

That's quite interesting. I don't believe I've ever seen an authentic period waster. Quite a find!

Various navies practiced Singlestick until fairly late in the first part of the 20th Century. Later than many other military institutions, ims.

These are obviously carved, likely by hand. The wood is most probably Ash but could be any number of light but durable woods.

There was no other information about them and the young lady at the Museum Store didn't know anything about them.
