A partner helping you can accomplish the same thing, but since you don't always have a partner..."
Blimey there's so much argument about a damm stretching machine lol. All I said myself was can't he just stretch without it instead of spending money on replacing it? Which is all dirty dog posted as well pretty much. I don't see why it's a problem for anyone
I know I was just saying why has thus started an argument that's gotten personal for no reasonI explained in previous posts why for some stretches the stretching machine works best. There are lots of stretches I do without using a machine but for some stretches you really do need a machine or a partner, and I don't always have the latter. As for people who get along fine without stretching machines, good for them, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Good question. Some of the threads I start inevitably result in arguments, and they're arguments that take place between other posters not me.
Seems quite a stretch (see what I did there?) to read any of these posts as being upset. You do seem to enjoy stirring the pot these days, though. Is that what this is?
Nope. We're asking what benefit there is to using a relatively expensive gadget compared to regular (and free) stretching exercises.
Well just look at the argument my Michael Phelps thread has stirred up between other posters and the only post I made was the beginning post.Well now, that's not strictly true is it.... the arguments are rarely between the other posters.
All this over a stretching machine...
I have one, I like it, it is REALLY old, it broke, I fixed it and now it is stronger that it was when it was new...it was new about 20 years ago
Can I stretch without it? Yes, yes I can, and I do
Am I using it to able to do a split? Heavens no
Is it better or worse than stretching other ways? That would depend on what you want to stretch
It is just one of the tools I used for stretching because I'm old. It is also a great way to sit, stretch and meditate...
This is the one I have

And look at the arguments this thread has stirred up, arguments which I have not taken a side on.
That's the one I've got that just broke.
My stretching machine. A picture of the machine is on post 28.What broke?
My stretching machine. A picture of the machine is on post 28.
I realize that, what broke on the stretching machine?
The crankshaft.
Well the crank shaft can't be fixed so all that is left for me is to trash my old stretching machine, or maybe sell it for scrap metal, and buy a new one.Never had to deal with that on mine, I have had to replace the deck though and it is much better with the new deck than the old.
