Muscle Memory - How Many Reps

The 10,000 thing has its roots in Shaolin, where it was reputed as the amount of repetitions they performed before it became fully absorbed. My own experiance is that it is more than 10,000 and it is a case of continual refinement ever moving towards performing the technique perfectly.
 
Way,way back during my Shorin-Ryu days i was having trouble with a center block...Sensei had be do it 500 times each arm...I have never forgotten it...
