So what are our overall thoughts?

I think we've got three ideas (which could all happen, or none). Having a meetup in australia, having another meetup in kentucky, or having a meetup somewhere in new england. It sounds like we may have two separate meetings this year - 1 in australia and 1 in the usa.

I can set up polls to determine what people would be interested in, please reply here with preferences. I'll be creating a survey by next week with locations and times, based on replies here.

I'm separating this from the other thread since that thread has had normal thread thrift. If you want to discuss something that doesn't involve planning for it, please focus on the other thread.

Obviously Kentucky is easiest for me and I'm happy to host. But I could probably make it to New England if someone wanted to host and we could get more attendees there. Unfortunately, I can't make it to Australia. That would be fun.

I think I'd prefer Kentucky over New England. I'm in Texas, so it's a shorter drive and closer climate. Although if I flew, NY might actually be "closer" if I can get a nonstop flight.

As I said in the other thread, March to early May would work best for me.

Kentucky is probably out of the cards for me but if any of you good people come up to New England I would be happy to get together.

Kentucky would be in Lexington. Closest airport is Bluegrass Airport here in Lexington. Next closest is Louisville, a bit over an hour away.

We have a few people in the New England area, but I don't think anyone has officially proposed a location or offered to host out that way yet

I don't think we had a specific person opening their studio/dojo in new england. It was more that we have multiple people in the new england are that were interested. If worse comes to worst, and no one is able to share where they are, there is a park near where I grew up that allows for people to train without any requirements. Only issue with that would be that it's weather dependent.

Kentucky would be lexington, where Tony is, and Australia would be in queensland, in the area dropbear shared on the other post.

A lots going on with my personal/professional life at the moment, and I'm unsure where I'll be after may of this year. Someone else will have to take the lead for planning this if they want to have it happen this year/first half of next year.

I've got absolutely nothing going on with my personal or professional life this year. (I'm single and on "sabbatical"). However, I also don't have a gym of my own, I'm basically out in the sticks (I drive by cows to get to the nearest grocery store), and I haven't met any of y'all in-person yet.

In this thread, it looks like we've had @Tony Dismukes say he's willing to host in KY, or travel to NE, and @Stuarto (who I've not had the opportunity to get to know) suggest coming up to NE as the only option for him.

In the other thread, @Wing Woo Gar was non-committal, @hoshin1600 mentioned interest, @Buka said he wouldn't be able to make it. @JowGaWolf and @Xue Sheng were in the discussion, but didn't say anything one way or the other.

@drop bear ,@_Simon_ ,and @Haruhiko are Aussies that mentioned an Aussie meetup. I'm not going to pretend to get involved in an Aussie meetup.

It is highly unlikely i will make it to anything that requires much travel. I have trips to Japan and Hong Kong coming up this year. I will be in Virginia in March, but i will be there only a couple days for the oldest to get his PhD. Other than that i will be back and forth between NYS and Maine
