So here's an update definitely stronger second time around. Legs still burned but didn't have trouble walking down the steps. My son had the same pain but no pain the next day. I could have done 2 extra rounds of the squat walks but didn't.
My wife has the second day pain and the 3rd day pain. She took larger and faster steps which made it easier for her.
I still can't do the total distance in one go. Increased the length of the sections on the last 2 rounds. Added two leg jumps at the end. Too much for my son so I cut it short. Rain is in the forecast next week so weights are on the menu.
Maybe some technique drills if my son's arms healed. His forearms aren't as conditioned as mine.
