Hi I have just started Kupso, I have a few questions to ask,

1. Is Kupso a martial art or an organisation?

2. What do you actually hold a belt in?
ao denkou jitsu, taewondo, chung do kwan? I heard that you actually hold a belt in all 3, does this mean for example if you are a green belt in Kupso..you could in theory go to a taekwondo class and also be a green belt.

3.What is the difference between Chung do kwan and taekwondo?
I have been trying to find some stuff on each martial art and from what I gather Chung do kwan and Taekwondo are very similar.
for example
Ao denkou jitsu: Pressure Points
Taekwondo:punches and kicks
Chung do kwan:Forerunner to taekwondo??
What is point of having belt in both if they are the same.?
Sorry if these questions seem silly but i am a beginner and would like to know exactly what I am learning.

Thanks

edit** I posted this on a really old thread...does anyone have any ideas??

I think your questions should all be answered by asking your instructor.
Welcome to martial talk! A fresh perspective is always interesting to me.

Its news to me. Through the power of google, I found this:

http://www.kupso.com/

Initially, students learn the basics through Ao Denkou Jitsu, TaeKwon Do, Chinese Kickboxing and Karate. Those students that reach advanced levels (Black Belt) are introduced to South East Asian and Chinese Arts not readily available to the public. These include Silat, Kuntao, Kali, Bagua, Five Animals and Five Ancestors Systems. How many organisations offer this much additional training to Black Belts?

So... In answer to your question Kupso appears to be an organisation rather than an art.

Whether your instructor is qualified to grade you in three arts only he can tell you. Given a Kupso certificate, I imagine most TKD clubs would want you to start at white belt.

Chung Do Kwan is Tae Kwon Do.

Not silly questions at all. He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

thanks for the replies! appreciated. I have started this to keep fit and also learn self defense at the same time..(I have always wanted to do it but never got round to it....) It looks like a lot of fun.
Cheers.
