There is a pretty good chart of bb and rank on the Tracy web site, but it would prob be more difficult to check him out if he is only a shodan. Have you asked him who his instructor was? Where he trained, like what area in the US? Who his instructor's instructor was? If it still looks shady try to find if there was in deed a school where he claims s/he trained. Those are relatively simple questions I mean if he cant answer that...

I've communicated with Nelson about this. The person Nelson met is listed on Tracys website as 2nd black. The person was my first kenpo teacher back in about 1984. Looks like Nelson recently ran into him.
