Sword in Return & Kick in Return:
Sword in Return was for a left lapel grab followed by a right punch. The defense was to strike across the grabbing arm to knock it away and intercept the punch with an inward block, then your right hand chopped to the neck.
Kick in Return was for a right punch. The defense was to do an inward block to the punch and then responsd with a right front snap kick.
These techniques were combined in Retreating Warrior and you did a right inward block followed by a right chop to the neck, then performed a front snap kick. According to Mr. Lamkin, many students were rushing through the chop to get to the kick so the order was changed into block, kick and then chop. Thus delaying the chop. The new technique was now called "Delayed Sword" and is taught in both the Parker and Tracy versions
