Chinese Swings

I ran across a reference to "Chinese Swings" in a book written by Dr. Ted Sumner and Mills Crenshaw called "Deep Cover Cop".
Ted was working in the jail and got jumped by a half dozen cons while changing light bulbs in a cell during his early days in law enforcement.
I have never heard of this technique before. Can anyone tell me something about it and reference a vid if possible?
