Retailers profit from cold snap

The cold spell in April is reviving demand for overcoats, blankets and other winter goods at retailers, prompting them to stock winter and spring line merchandise side by side on their shelves.
At Don Quijote Co., which runs a network of discount shops, blanket sales in the first half of April grew roughly threefold from the same period last year, according to an official. "Items priced around ¥1,000 are selling particularly well," the official said.
