Pope's concern was sidetracked

Only when the article finally reports a fact does one see that the pope "did not make a specific complaint about equality acts past or pending."
The pope's actual focus is that the law should take account of religious freedom and respect the natural law on which equality is grounded. So what's the fuss really about?
