Japan and the United States are set to launch a joint study project for developing a device that would provide an eye for use in unmanned aerial vehicle navigation, defense ministry officials said Sunday.
Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada and U.S. Ambassador to Japan John Roos exchanged a document last Wednesday giving the OK to develop such a control device, which would be designed to be in place when the global positioning system is jammed or experiences glitches.
