When fists are flying, it's very easy to establish a clinch. It's logic that for any striker, he also needs to train how to deal with a clinch.

Your thought?

It’s a good skill set to have. Learning to establish a clinch helps to understand how to escape one.

Are we talking about sports fighting or fighting in general?

Strikers already train how to deal with a clinch.

It's logic that any wrestler needs to train how to establish a clinch safely starting from outside striking range. In MMA, wrestlers train striking to integrate with their wrestling.

Ronda Rousey is KOd by Nunes and Holm. Rousey is an accomplished judoka.

Ben Askren is KOd by Masvidal and Paul. Askren is an accomplished wrestler.

This is a good question.

It's possible that you may have 10,000 rounds of sport fighting and 0 street fighting.

If you have a training partner, you can have sport fighting 24/7. If you try to have a street fighting, you have to go to the street and pick up a fight against a stranger.

Since in sport fighting, we don't have to worry about legal issue, I like to talk about sport fight and not street fight.

I think Rousey was knocked out because of Edmond Tarverdyan, possibly the worst trainer in the history of combat sports. He tried to turn her into a boxer. And worse, he may be the worst boxing trainer in the country.
