I thought that each state set the laws for allowable contact.

This is why I don't enter tournments. Just because you can win a few medals does not make you invincible and out in the street there are no rules.
We have a couple of young black belts in our classes and I must say they are supurb at forms and instructing. I really take my hat off to them. This little boy's forms are incredible and he is really fast for his age. Of course it kind of helps that his dad is my Instructor's assistant instructor.
I have a friend in Taekwondo who is always being reprimanded for excessive contact. And when this happens he has to go through his patterns but in my class we have to do press ups and such an individual I'm sure would be spoken to, maybe never allowed to spar or possibly kicked out.
