Without overclocking...

You can play around with the memory timings in the BIOS. In general, the lower the better, but there comes a point where if you get too aggressive, your system will become unstable.

Since Socket AM2 systems use DDR2 memory, their timings may be something like 5-5-5-12 or 4-4-4-10.

The first three numbers are the only ones that matter, when looking at memory specs.

You may need to slightly increase your memory voltage, if you want to use the more aggressive settings.

Sorry, mis-read the title. Thought you meant for overall system performance.

The built-in video chip isn't going to be anything spectacular. It can probably handle the older games at low to moderate settings, but trying to run something like Battlefield 2 or FEAR on it isn't going to be productive.

Your best bet is to get a separate video card. Something like an ATi Radeon x850 XT should be available for the low 100's, and will give you a very, very large boost in video performance.
