I fully expect a speaker to fall on my head sitting cageside at the MGM Grand Arena during UFC 108. It would be a fitting end to the injury curse that hit UFC 108 over the last month. Eight different fighters had to bail from the card, including this week when Steve Cantwell, had to back out of his fight against Vladimir Matyushenko. UFC president Dana White joked today that even his matchmaker Joe Silva recently suffered an MCL injury (1:29 mark).

The Cantwell injury was undisclosed and it sounds like no joking matter. White refused to divulge the info on the 22-year-old's plight but did say it might be career threatening.

Speaking of career threatening, White said there's still no definitive timetable for Brock Lesnar's return. Again he mentioned that Lesnar may not return at all. White said there should be an answer this week and then he'll know what to do with the proposed Frank Mir-Shane Carwin fight.

White also answered the thought that some fighters may not be seriously injured when they're pulling out of fights and maybe the UFC needs to police the fighters a little more closely.
