WHat if for you all.

If you where asked by the government to create a system of fighting and the wanted based for three systems what three would you choose?

Why those three?

What aspects and philosiphies would you keep and why?

which ones would you discard?

If you could only teach two weapons what would they be?

If you could pick one famous person to teach the system to and to spread the word for you who would it be?

What would you name the system and why?

It wouldn't matter because by the time they got the order through all of the commities, vetos, recommities, the political posturing to decide whether or not is was in the best interest of the american people (read "Will this get me re-elected") and what-not I'd be using a walker to get around and wouldn't be able to teach it.

Good question for those not quite so fed up with gov't wrangling though.:D

Why bother... We are a computer based/video game military now. Besides with some of the neet stuff the Army is developing in the way of "smart" body armor systems that inclued small arms target tracking and such, we really won't need it in the future.

American Kenpo Karate.
Togakure-Ryu Ninjutsu.
Jeet Kune Do.

Why those three?

American Kenpo Karate: Comprehensive fighting strategies that emphasize logic and rapid adaptation.

Togakure-Ryu Ninjutsu: Good solid combat skills in a wide variety of circumstances/situations, skills in detection avoidance, guerilla warfare, environmental sensitivity/awareness training, wide range of weapons practice.

Jeet Kune Do: (though technically NOT an art, but a philosophy or approach to training/conditioning...as I see it.) Emphasis on fitting the art to the individual (in common with the other two arts listed... making a good fit). STRONG emphasis on conditioning and training in realism, use of the 'adopt the useful' type thinking.

What aspects and philosiphies would you keep and why?
Don't know that I would.

If you could only teach two weapons what would they be?
Sticks
Blades
(each of varying length)
I chose these two not as exact 'weapons', but as weapon categories. Perhaps this is cheating; so sue me.

If you could pick one famous person to teach the system to and to spread the word for you who would it be?
What would you name the system and why?

No idea.
Would require a GREAT deal of consideration.

with your system thought I was thinking

I guess the best way is to rephase the question

If you could make a movie with your style in it who you pick to play the maine charcter.

Glad you liked it.
Wouldn't the initials for "American Eclectic Ninjutsu" be AEN?
If you pronounce that outloud it sounds like the hebrew word for "nothing".

I've never seen "the Hunted"...was it good?

As far as staring in the movie?

1. Bjj, Kenpo, and taekwondo; because they work with different ranges.
2. The ones based on logic
3. the unproven ones not based in logic
4. Club and knife, I would add handgun disarm techs but that is three.
5. Jesse Ventura. Who else?
6. Prianu Bindu Wolden! Why not?

1. Muay Thai, BJJ, FMA
2. They are competative, good conditioning, evolving, complimentary comprehensive in techniques and ranges.
3. See above
4. none
5. Gun and stick (most stick can be transfered to blades)
6. doesn't matter
7. doesn't matter, but I think I would call it "Pain".

Some really good suggestions on this thread.

A couple of things to keep in mind when designing such a program...

What will the grunt be wearing? Pack? Fanny pack? Web gear with canteens, mag pouches, etc.? Helmet?

My point is that it is REALLY hard to do some of the stuff we do when one is wearing this gear. They'll likely have nothing less than fifty pounds of gear on during combat. They wear it virtually all of the time. Look at the footage from Iraq and take that into consideration when you think about your curriculum.
