In these days of massive insanity and overreaction, how are you holding out? Are you doing online lessons? Are you staying healthy? How about your students - any reported cases of Covid-19 with them?

I personally feel that SWMBO and I dodged a massive bullet by deciding to close our doors when we did. We're hanging in there. SWMBO works at a medical practice, so she has to go in every day. I'm sitting at home going stir crazy .

Assigned to an isolation center, 12 hours sitting in a guard shack or patrolling in a side by side for 12 hours a day......it's miserable.

Jacob is training physical fitness, karate, and baseball at home during the day.

He also is going to the dojo twice a week to film training videos and drills with his instructor for the other students.

Still going to work every day, and studying on my days off. Only difference is now I have more time to study now that I'm not out doing things on my free time.
And getting fat. Trying to curb that.

What overreaction have you been seeing?

I’m home, doing a lot of training and working on projects I haven’t had the time to attend to, as my work is winding down. We are home but still on payroll for a couple more weeks, then furlough, but possibly subject to change. My location is scheduled to close permanently later this year, those plans were in place before the pandemic hit, so time is short no matter what.

I’ve been looking for new jobs with businesses that are likely to stay open such as grocery stores. The problem is, those jobs have a high potential for contact with many members of the public. I’m thinking these next few months may be a critical time and getting through it on unemployment might be a safer bet. Right now I’ve got my wife, our six year-Old son and my wife’s sister with us. If I went to work and got exposed, and got my household sick, and if any of us ended up critical or dead, I don’t think I could forgive myself.

So I have a couple interviews lined up next week with Target, but I’m thinking of just cancelling them. If I can find a position with little public exposure, that would be safer.

On the other side of this, five or six months from now there is likely to be stiff competition for any jobs, so it’s tough to pass up something in the meantime.

It’s hard to know what is the right decision.

I dunno but it's shown me a lot of schools with very bad instruction based on some videos. One I saw has a 8 year old back belt trying to teach a technique totally wrong. Wrong attack, wrong strikes even stepped the wrong way and mechanically does not work the way that kid was teaching it

Turns out the time I spent driving to and from work took up the time I would have spent training Kung Fu. Still working in IT Support. Doing gardening (vegetables, herbs, pepper, fruit) Stuff that I can eat. Overall I'm just trying to stay way from people by staying home and only going out when I need to. I stocked up on a lot of food earlier on and I continue to do so on those rare occasions when I need to go to the grocery store. I try to keep my food supply and personal needs supply (toothpaste, mouthwash etc.) high. I don't want to completely run out.. Things are bad now in the U.S. but it's going to get worse. We have 50 states so that's 50 possible bad scenarios. I never been much for going out, I've always been a sort of homebody. So not much has changed on that front. I have too much backyard to go crazy, and too many things I want to do, so I'm far from boredom.

My day job is an IT specialist at a hospital. I am working from home to support those who are required to go in.
My night job is an instructor at my TKD school. I am going into work to support those who are required to stay home.

We're doing online classes via Zoom.

Was going to my office to work as an "essential" employee. Then had possible exposure to Covid and was sent home to quarantine. No symptoms, and now I have been told to stay home and work form home, no need to twist my arm about it. So far today all I have is 1 meeting to attend.

Trying to stay in contact with friends around the country sone of them are MAist. Postponed Knee surgery, getting a lot of acupuncture for the knees, exercising more, doing more Taijiquan, going to work more on taiji 13 postures as well as Jian and Dao. Working in yard, basically I have the time, so I train, and I'm doing ok.

Trying not to panic about things, I was panicking a bit last week, but so far, at this point, I am maintaining calm. There is nothing I can do, and panicking will not help, so why panic.

I am a bit concerned that Mrs Wu is still seeing patients, but at a much reduced schedule, but it is of some concern.

Xue, I forgot you and I are in the same knee limbo. My Ortho told me last week it would most likely be fall before I get new knees, which I am fine with all things considered.
I am still hooked to IV antibiotics 2 hours, twice a day plus an oral twice daily. The knee washout hurt a heck of a lot more than the hardware removal. The knee still feels hot when I am on it a lot. I wonder if it is literally friction. Sure feels that way.
Spring flush in in full swing so we have been very busy preparing our hay fields. It took me about a week to figure out skin does not like sun when you are pumped full of antibiotics. My arms and face were feeling like they were on fire by the end of the day. The doctor said nothing about it. I had to Google it to figure it out. Long sleeves and sun block seems to have taken care of things.
I have an appointment with the infectious disease doctor tomorrow. Really hoping he will take the Pic line out and I can be done with this.
We also started another offshoot PPE project. This one produces P100 filter media in bulk.

My knee is nowhere near as bad as yours is. Hopefully that can take care of it for you sooner. I am currently doing ok with regular acupuncture treatments. The knee with the torn meniscus and the stress fracture actually does not feel to bad, However the one they did surgery on last June that is rather arthritic is not all to happy at times

Yeah I feel ya. I was already unemployed before all this hit, and now it being much harder to find work I had to weigh up those pros and cons, and I decided to just stay home and ride it out.

I didn't feel it was safe enough to be out and possibly get sick or get others sick; my immune system has already been really compromised the last few months.

And the Aus government has been amazing with not only helping out people who have lost work due to it all, but people already on benefits are getting more payment and they've let slide alot of necessary mutual obligations (reporting fortnightly etc) due to pretty much most nonessential places closing down.

You've gotta do what's right for you and your family.

And @Balrog , am hangin in there . Training at home and as I'm more of a homebody anyway (I do have friends though, I do!), it hasn't put much stress on me.

The wife and i are staying home unless something absolutely critical needs to be bought, like toilet paper.

Since I am retired, the money comes in no matter which is lucky for us.

Business as usual for me. I work at a biotech pharmaceutical company making medicine. Actually, I’m getting a good amount of OT. People were getting quarantined left and right, but it seems to be slowing down now. No cases of Covid, but just general sickness or living with someone who’s been quarantined is getting people 2 weeks. We’ve had about 8 out of 50 or so on each shift quarantined at any given time.

A great thing about the lockdown is it saves us money. No taking the kids here and there to entertain them, as there’s no where to go. Entertaining them with the simple things - playing in the yard, bike rides, walks, stuff like that. My girls are 7 and 9, so it was pretty rough the first few weeks, but it’s been getting a lot better. I think they’re getting used to being home and getting into a new routine.

Classes are all online. Mostly fitness.
