This is a very interesting problem that is being discussed here. Not only the example mentioned, but also the fundamental question of how many important references are missing in the translations. The figurative language and writing of the Japanese and Chinese often allow for many interpretations, so we can never be sure what the author actually meant. This makes it all the more important to visit the old masters while they are still around and disappearing fast.
